Was given prescription for 750mg 1x daily of Valtrex for eight days to treat bronchitis. Told the doctor that I had rheumatoid arthritis prior to his prescription for treatment. I have been functioning well with my rheumatoid arthritis for approximately 10 years. Don't see a doctor anymore and have taken myself off all prescribed medications years ago. Have been dancing twice weekly with my husband for years now and can even make a fist with one of my hands. After eight days of treatment with Valtrex, I can barely walk. It is painful to get in or out of any sitting position. Walking is painful, my hands are numb and in great pain. My knees are in extreme pain every time I move. Not only did this drug cause sleepless nights, nauseousness, and sleep hallucinations, it has set me back 10 years in my well being for rheumatoid arthritis. I only pray that I can flush this drug out of my system with plenty of water and that, once this occurs, that I can move again with ease. I ask why the FDA has allowed this drug to remain on the market and why our doctors keep prescribing it! It has proven to be toxic to my system. By the way, I still have a bad cough that sounds as if the bronchitis has not entirely cleared and am dealing with all the joint and body pain. This experience has caused me to remain wary (I have been skeptical in the past) over what the FDA allows in the market and what doctors believe is safe for their patients.
