I have been on and off this medication for 4 years and at first was very effective. I no longer experienced mood swings and overall seemed happy about everything. I have been off of it for 3 months due to the fact that it wasn't working anymore. I started to become more irritable and mood swings were present once again and have since spoke to my doctor about switching me to something else....she prescribed Pristiq. I am only one week in and feeling better so far. As far as Remeron, if and when you want to ween yourself off, doing so cold turkey will not work. You will have to cut the pill in half or in 4's and get off that way. I tried cold turkey and experience the worst side effects ever. Vivid nightmares, electrical brain shocks, severe headaches.
