I take Paxil to treat my chronic panic disorder but lately tragedy in my family has brought back some anxiety that the Paxil doesn't fix. Lorazepam is a godsend in that on days I'm feeling anxious, I take it, and I feel like myself again. Other days, if I feel good, I don't take it. The only downside is that about 5 hours after I take it I get pretty drowsy, but it's worth the relief and the ability to be free from anxiety. I was put on Keppra a few months ago for Mixed State Bipolar Disorder. My condition was mild and primarily depressed with some anxiety and OCD until trying Lexapro a few months which triggered an awful mixed episode. At first, as with almost everyone, I was started on a low dose of Keppra, in my case to be elevated in three stages. The first two went pretty smoothly after a few days of brain fog and fatigue. I did not feel 100%, but was alot better than I had been, and started to enjoy life again. My depression was greatly alleviated and my anxiety became totally manageable. However, I have had a very hard time dealing with the third stage of titration (still a comparably low dose considering how much some others are taking), which even after a few days I am finding too sedating and have new side effects such as a kind of pressure headache. I know it needs to be bumped up as the initial relief I have had with the lower dosages have waned a good bit. I am just really hoping I can adjust to it and get the same results consistently in the future. Also,even with insurance, this is proving to be a very costly medication. I have tried Zocor, Mevacor, Lipitor, Welchol, Zetia and one drug that is off the market made by Bayer and now Pravastatin... Yuck! All made my joints hurt so bad and I got bronchitus so often. Pravastatin made my hand joints hurt so bad, it was like I had been frostbitten and the pain woke me up at night. Horrible all of the meds caused me joint pains after about 3 months.
