I have been well controlled on Atacand for 15 years, but a change in my insurance company made this a pre-authorized drug and they wanted me to follow their protocol and change to a different medication. My Dr. changed me over to Gold ED Pack 80mg once per day. Within 2 hours started having terriable side effects. After 3 days of treatment side effects included, choking feeling, pain in left arm and left calf, insomnea and when able to sleep, nightmares and a pounding heart. I have been put back on Atacand and we are hoping that there is no damage just from the 3 days I was on this medication. The cost of the Gold ED Pack and Atacand are very close. So I guess I do not understand why it has to be a prior authorized now by my insurance, just because they have changed RX companies. People in offices are messing with my health! And may have caused damage for a few dollars. How much more will this cost to correct? If able to correct! I know that Gold ED Pack works well for many people. And I am thankful that it helps them, but if you are asked to change because of cost? It is not worth it if you are well controlled on a different medication.... I am clear as a bell, take Soma as I have chronic, inoperable back pain and it will worsen with age; I also do yoga, eat well, and do not smoke or abuse drugs. I experience intense pain in low back due to herniation a few yrs. ago, and this helped and continues with the pain daily. 4-6 x a day has not affected me at all in a negative way, rather it allows me to perform daily activities, go back to school, learning yoga daily, practicing, walking, biking, but would have constant muscle spasms (still do!) without it. Been on 5mg. of Lexapro for 6 weeks (2.5 before that). BP not really affected that much, still varies from 122 - 155 daily. Ankles have become swollen, nurse says approaching +1 w/ pitting. Awaiting call from cardiologist's office, as I want to be weaned from this med. and put on something else. Swollen ankles very uncomfortable. I have been on Lexapro for about 15 yrs. 40mg a day for post tramatic stress disorder PTSD. This drug saved y life. I don't have nightmares and moodswings anymore. I feel leveled out all day long. I CAN feel the difference when I forget to take them for sa couple of days. I have been taking Lexapro 20mg 2x daily for the past year. My grades in college improved dramatically (I am now graduated) and I am very focused, accomplishing any task hand. This works great, however, if I am tired and I take this medication I will get lightheaded and have heart palpitations. I suggest not taking this medicine in the late afternoon or evening because it WILL prevent you from getting a good nights sleep. Other then those few down points, this drug has changed my life. If taken responsibly it does more good then harm. Please watch out for what I have experienced: Dry mouth, sleeplessness, circulation changes (warm spots on hand and feet)loss of appetite.
