I have had my thyroid removed, the right side when I was 12 and the left side a year ago at age 35. I have been on synthroid for the last year. I have never weighed more than 125 at 5'7 usually around 115 120, I weigh almost 160 now, my appetite has increased, I am moody and find that sometimes I just can't concentrate or fall asleep at my desk. I have experienced long term chronic dizziness and vertigo issues after taking this drug. I have had these symtoms for over 9 years now. I also have eye issues that I attribute to the use of this medication. I have experienced leg cramps, anxiety, rapid heartbeat, respiratory infections, thrush, etc. It's an awful drug. It works for my asmtha but the side effects are not worth the suffering I have had to endure for the past 9 years. I have been off of it for over 6 years now. I started on 150 mg. for two weeks and was fine. then it bumped up to 300 mg. and I thought I was losing my mind. My thoughts were erratic, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't concentrate, my mouth was dry, I had ringing in my ears and most of all, I felt drugged. I went back to 150 mg. but the only improvement was that I was able to sleep. I'm conscious nearly 100% of the time that this medication is in my system. I'm stopping it.
