PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS..........I have Psoriatic Arthritis and my hands and feet were both swollen and very painful. I found it difficult to work and couldnt play sport. Taking Valtrex has relieved my symptoms so i can live a normal life. However this drug can have serious side effects so ensure you read the directions and know the warning signs. I didnt read them properly and was accidently overdosing. Because the side effects did not seem to surface for some time, i didnt realize that the side effects were related to the drugs. At first i got serious abdominal pains and lost my appetite then a couple of days later i had pain in the centre of my chest. I then had trouble breathing and got headaches and blurred vision. Taking Aspirin for my headaches only made my symptoms more acute. I had to take myself down to the emergency hospital for treatment. The only comfort i could get was by lying down on my back. Once i found out the problem and stopped both the Valtrex and Aspirin, i started to feel better within a couple of days. I am still going to take the Valtrex but i am now a strong believer of taking as little as possible (less than that subcribed if possible). I believe the neurologist gave me this drug to get migraine medication into my system fast during the onset of a migraine. I only took it twice. The first time, I had TERRIBLE anxiety. It was awful. Since I had a history of anxiety and depression (which was in remission) I didn't make the connection. I just thought the stress of my recent wedding, the holidays, etc. had brought my anxiety back to the surface. I took the drug again about a month later and the same thing happened. I was up all night feeling like I was about to jump out of my skin! Only then did I make the connection to Acyclovir. I have been on Baclofen 20mg 3 times a day for approx a month. I was on this drug before about 3 years ago with no side effects. This time I experienced severe swollen feet and ankles predominently the left side. And also my left eye has been swelling up to where it is almost closed shut, and I have also gained weight without changing my diet at all. According to my regular internist he says it is the Baclofen that is causing this. I also take many other meds for pain that I have been on for a number of years, and I have tolerated them with no problem. The hard part is that the Baclofen was helping me with my legs and now I have been taken off of it. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? My neurologist put me on the Baclofen, I have MS and Fibroymyalgia and degenerative disc disease. So for the pain I see a pain doctor.
