Trazodone saved my sanity! I had spent years with serious insomnia problems, and due to lack of sleep I was experiencing anxiety/nervousness and depression during the day. I went to different psychologists, psychiatriats, and my family doctor. They spent years trying me out on different drugs, Ambien, Lunesta, Xanax, Prozac, Paxil, Nuerontin, Seroquel, and the list goes on. The drugs only made me doped up and I felt crazy. Then one doctor prescribed me Trazodone, and it is now the only pill I take. I take 500 mg 30 minutes before bedtime and I sleep like a baby the whole night through. I don't have issues with depression, anxiety or insomnia any longer. The last 4 years I have been on Trazodone have been wonderful, I feel totally normal. It has been a life saver! And I have never had any side effects from it! Tried MANY different drugs prior to Septra, all had completely intolerable side-effects.. some permanent. Septra is wonderful, though my dose is slightly higher than the recommended maximum dose, little to no side effects (some nightmare issues and sleeplessness). Had a sudden severe event of back pain that was diagnosed as muscular in nature. It was so bad I couldn't sit still or relax. Even 800 mg. ibuprofen wouldn't kill it. Was given cyclobenzaprine. It totally wiped out the pain. However, it has a major side effect of drowsiness. Cyclobenzaprine is a distant cousin to amiptryptaline (Elavil) - but it's every bit as sedating. Not immediately it isn't, but after 2 or 3 hours suddenly I can't keep my eyes open. The sedation (and dry mouth) lasts well into the next day. Unfortunately. In summary: an excellent drug for really severe pain, but nothing you'd want to take regularly and still function normally. It's good on an as needed basis. by SUNG from Cochranville, PA
