I am 37 and finally sought treatment for my adult ADD. The Dr. put me on 10mg -25mg then 40mg. I have had some dizzyness, blurred vision, hot flashes, difficulty urinating and a "wide awake in 3 hours" sleep pattern. The worst side effect though... Having always been quite virile and after meeting the woman of my dreams and finally having a sex life that would make a teenager blush -it goes limp in the middle of crazy mad passionate sessions. I was prescribed Mirapex for anxiety. Within a month, it stopped working. I built a tolerance to the drug. What I DID not know was that the drug is HIGHLY physically addictive. I spoke to a Neurologist who told me that is as addictive as heroin or alcohol. She told me that it is VERY dangerous to withdraw from Mirapex suddenly. She gave me a slow taper schedule, but it was VERY difficult. I experienced tremors, nausea, and sweats during the withdrawal period. After the last does, it took 35 hours to completely leave my system...and the anxiety came back with a vengeance. This drug should only be used for a very short time. Daughter left with acute psychotic pathway following psychotic reaction following her abruptly ceasing then recommencing her Lamotrogine 2 days later. This confusion etc was misdiagnosed as being of epilepsy origin. They performed an Emergency EEG to prove that it was epilepsy, but forgot to read it for 12 days, leaving her under Drs orders taking the full dose of the drug that was damaging her brain. We are now in hospital with our fourth bout of mania and psychosis, which is quite resistant to medication. She had no psychiatric problems prior to this life changing event three years ago. Incidentally the Lamotrogine made her seizures more frequent and worse, and thankfully we were able to stop it before the twelve days were up due to a dreadful full body rash reaction. Interestingly, her last 4 EEGS prove her to be epilepsy free and she had had no seizures since Aug 20102, after prayer by her pastors, while she was so sick in hospital for a month with her first admission. by FERMIN from Rudd, IA
I had been diagnosed with pneumonia and sinus infection. First given the Z-pack and did nothing then given Primaquine and had no side effects and it worked wonders.
