I was put on this medication for severe pains in the arch of my right foot. These pains were like an electric shock or stabbing feeling and I have never felt anything so horrible in my life. The neurologist said I was getting seizures in my foot. This medication has helped a lot. I started on 300 mg. 3 times a day but I have had to have the medication adjusted twice and have gone up to 600 mg. 4 times a day because the pains returned. Have been on this dose for about a week and I haven't had any new pains, so I hope this dosage works. The doctors have given me mri's and a nerve conduction test to rule out a disk problem in my back or nerve damage. They seem stumped on the cause of my problem, so they are just treating the symptoms. This medication made me a little dizzy for the first days, but now I am fine. I have been taking Valtrex for a couple years now and have had awesome success! First starting it was a lil rough just because you do feel really tired for a couple weeks, but nothing to bad. Especially in comparison to how I was feeling. I was getting panic attacks on a daily basis, and then crashing hard into depression. I started at 50 mg 1 x a day, now I take 400mg 2 x a day and have been very even. Of course there are ups and downs.. as life does throw us curve balls here and there. But I have felt able to cope with them. I also take Zoloft for depression, that combo has worked out really good for me. I am thinking about adding lithium to my regime just because I am now starting to have higher ups and lower lows.. maybe that will help balance things back out. All though I have had a lot of recent stresses added to my life, a little something extra would probably help me out for a short term thing.
