I have had severe side effects from the medication. Though it has taken care of the Bacterial infection, it hasn't come without cost to me. Within a few days of being on this medication I began to feel extremely week,nautious,a decrease in appetite and irritable.By the 6th day I couldn't walk do to severe pain in my right knee that began swelling in the joint,that morning after taking this med. I began feeling really sick within the hour and began to vomit up a lot of blood, not a little!... a lot!. Thankfully that was the only time I did so. But I am still dealing with the joint pain and lower back pain 4 days later (after quitting this med.). My knee is back to normal and my sugar levels are starting to come back down, the stiffening in my other joints are doing better and my Blood pressure is starting to come back up to normal after being really low while taking the med. 74/55 is not good in my book. But, as for taking this med. for the infection...it took care of it. But I will never take it again!. In my opinion the side effects are far worse than they let on. They need to label more of the side effects not as rare but as common or at least put them in front of others. The higher Blood glucose levels, the Hives! (torture), the drop in blood pressure,they way it seems to localise on a joint that you have had previouse aches with...making it a severe pain. But Hey at least I don't have to RUN to the bathroom anymore!...yeah!, i don't think my knee objects to that. :) by ELIAS from Quenemo, KS

I was prescribed Ciprofoxacin for a bacterial bladder infection (my 1st). I could not take another antibiotic due to another medcation I take for arthritis. I was on 500 Mg, 2X daily for 10 days. I noticed some slight dizziness at first and bloating. I developed a very sore throat with white spots (thrush/yeast) by the 9th day. I thought I had Strep, but it wasn't. Dairy decreases effectiveness and you must drink more fluid than ususual. It knocked out the UTI.
