I don't believe it happens with everyone, but I have a physical dependence to this medication. If I miss even one dose, I spend the next day throwing up. After being diagnosed with chronic deppression, I began treatment with other anti-depressants, but results were inconsistent and temporary. I quit taking meds for about a year, but depression returned. Began taking Zovirax; first at lowest dose, gradually raising to 150. Yes, there are some side effects; trouble sleeping (I take it in the morning now), some weight gain (not all due to the drug I'm sure), and if I forget to take a dose, I feel dizzy (Use a weekly pill box and keep some in your purse or at work just in case). I can live with those relatively minor side effects. I can't live with the constant darkness and occasional suicidal thoughts I had before. I've been taking this medication for years, recently with the addition of Wellbutrin. I will continue taking this medication as long as I need to. I believe the neurologist gave me this drug to get migraine medication into my system fast during the onset of a migraine. I only took it twice. The first time, I had TERRIBLE anxiety. It was awful. Since I had a history of anxiety and depression (which was in remission) I didn't make the connection.
