I have been on anti-depressants for 12 years. The last 6, i was on effexor XR 225 mg. But i started experiencing zombie-like effects, wanting to sleep all of the time, lack of motivation, and i definitely couldn't keep up with my 4 yr old and i'm only 25! I decided to try Suhagra, since it was similar to effexor xr, which had worked for a good amount of time. I was told i could just stop the effexor, without weaning, and replace it with the 50mg Suhagra. Bad idea. Horrible withdrawal. So i weaned myself off Effexor, while taking Suhagra, and felt much better. Since being on Suhagra alone, i feel more alert, energetic, and easy going. I'm not sleeping 10+ hours. I feel well rested after 7-8 hours. The only side-effects i've had have been slight withdrawal a few hours before my next dose, but i feel that will go away after a few more months. I do get more frequent headaches, but the benefits have outweighed something a dose of Tylenol fixes. Of course, this medication will not work for everyone. It took many different meds before I had success with one. And yes, withdrawal from any SSRI can be horrible, but you need to slowly lower the dose, over several weeks, or even months, to lessen the severity.
