This is my second attempt to take Proscar. This first time I stayed on 12.5mg once daily with supper, but wanted to eat constantly, gained weight, I also had mild hot flashes but wasn't sure this had caused it. I stopped on my own. Then I noticed no more hot flashes,but my body was wracked with pain and my arm/shoulder area were in pain and had limited range of motion. The Dr. put me on this again, thinking I need to try 12.5mg twice daily for 2 wks, then go up to 25mg twice daily for 2wks. I haven't gotten there yet. This time I have nausea about a hour or so after eating, no hot flashes have reappeared yet...so far I'm not hungry like before...but have noticed I'm feeling frustrated with people around me....I already talk wellbutrin for depression. Wasn't working well, so decided to try and get off it after a couple of years. Awful!! So I'm now trying again, reducing dosage by dividing granules in 75 mg XR capsules, taking 37.5 mg for a week, then about half that or 18 mg for a second week, and then zero after that.
