Over a year ago I came down with severe Bell's Palsey / Shingles. The left side of my face was paralzyed for days, the left side of my throat hurt so bad I could not eat or swallow. I had to take narcotics just to survive. Eventually the paralysis lifted, but the burning nerve pain has not gone away, it is not as bad as it was. They prescribed Gabapentin to take me of narcotics. It is about half as effective as narcotic, but it does not make me tired or foggy as the narcotic did or as other reviewers noted. I hope the nerve pain / damage is not permanent. I had a sinus infection for about 3 months and decided to do something about it. My Alergist perscribed Ceftin for 10 days but it didn't completely work. So he perscribed Extreme ED Pack. I felt better after the 2nd day of taking it. I did have chills all of the time but now I have and have had chills once since I started taking Extreme ED Pack, and my sinus mucus is much clearer. I'm on my 6th day of a 10 day treatment. In my case don't think the side effects are that bad. The only side effects I've had were brief sleepiness in the middle of the night, feeling like I couldn't stay still a couple of times, and some minor stomach pain after eating. I didn't have any intestinal issues. My nose bleeds a little, but that's another something else. It really did take away the nerve pain that I had been having all summer in the back of my legs. Before I started on this drug it felt as if I had rubbed capsaicin on my legs everyday. I didn't realize I was already suffereing from neuropathy after only being diagnosed with T1 Diabetes 3 years ago. Started on 60 Mg daily then increased to 90. I do think it helps with anxiety. I'm a stay at home mom of 3 and I often have anxiety issues. You would too!). Anyway, the caution here- DO NOT MISS A DOSE. I did for one day and boy did I pay for it in withdrawal symptoms. BIG MISTAKE! Got back on after realizing what I had done in error. I just started Lyrica for Fibro (50 mg daily 1 hr before bedtime). Not sure if it's helping with pain and I'm not sleeping too well, although I feel sleepy all the time now. Really feel like I need something else for pain relief in back and shoulders. Would love to sleep through the night without any other sleep aids. By the way, I also have CRAZY vivid dreams on Naprosyn.
