About 5 years ago i was diagnosed with Bipolar and anxiety which at times lead to acute panic attacks. I used to have severe panic attacks and would arrive in the ER feeling like an idiot when they told me it was just anxiety. My Doctor gave me Avelox 1mg and told me to take 3 times daily or when having acute attacks. I only took the pill when I felt anxiety coming on which always started with nausea and then stomach pain. This drug has changed my life for the better. I am 32 and have had DVT twice in my legs, and was not interested in a lifetime commitment to Coumadin because of all the continual maintenance and food/drug interactions. Before I realized I had DVT for the second time I was feeling exhausted all the time, sleeping up to 15 hours a day (which is SO NOT ME), my legs would throb, I felt depressed and irritable and put on a lot of weight from being so exhausted. My memory was becoming fuzzy as was my attention span (also odd for me because I am a straight A student for the reason that my memory tends to normally be super sharp). After they found clots again my doctor discussed Avelox with me, and I was leery because of the lack of an antidote, but hate Coumadin so much I decided to try it. Within 24 hours of taking Avelox I felt like a new person. My energy is back, my legs no longer throb, my depression is gone, it has been literally life changing for me. Everyone who knows me now comments how I am back to my old self. All I can figure is my blood was so thick combined with the clots that oxygen was not circulating correctly causing all the symptoms I had been having. The only side effects I have had is stomach cramping (especially if I don't take it with food) and diarrhea- both of which I can deal with in relation to all the positive effects I am having. I took the 6 day pack for neck pain that runs down the left side of my neck and arm. (xrays don't show any problems). I had taken once before after auto accident for similar pain. This time, it seems that it has increased the pain/discomfort and the side effects are terrible. I feel off balance, like when you have a head cold. It's very troubling.
