My doctor advised I begin Risperadol to help control my Tourrete Syndrome symptoms. I did notice a difference, however after a couple years, I have just stopped taking it. I am a man, and my nipples have become protracted...I assume because of prolacting levels. My sexual ability has significantly decreased. I have gained about 50 lbs, though I don't think I can blame all of that on the Risperadol. My cholesterol level has shot up, as has my blood sugar level. I know someone who takes this medication so when my doctor was giving me options for my own depression I chose celexa. For me it was a bad choice. About 3 hours after I took it I woke up wide awake, 2 in the morning. I started to experience psychosis and new that was it for me. My doctor told me it's in the same class as the Prozac, which my daughter takes and does fine, no side effects at all. It just goes to show that different drugs affect people differently. When I first started taking Imitrex, it was because I stared having more seizures, and I thought it would be for a brief time. Now ten (10) years later I still use it.Imitrex at 500 mgs (to me) is too thick, when I took it (1000 x 2 daily) I had to have plenty of water or I'd choke. Imitrex was a second medication & Dilantin was the first. When they finally came out with a generic my body said no thanks. On one of my doctor visits, he asked me to think about surgery so that I wouldn't have to take medication & if I have to continue to take both medications I might do it.
