My son is 9. He has been on ths md. for 6 yrs. now . His Dr. recently uped his med from 2oomg. to 400mg. He has been having trouble adjusting to the change. He walks in to walls, and is always late for school. His Dr. wont listen and tells me I am not a Dr. they know what he needs... Do the parents have any say ever? 150 MG 2x a day is the dose I take, along with 12.5 of Metropolol to slow heart rate, and a 25 MG of Hydrochlorathizide for High blood pressure. On these meds now for over a year, and joint pain (hip and knee worsening each day) muscles ache, and I have experienced serious bouts of dizziness or rather lopsidedness (falling sideways) ... still have atrial fibrillation problems, feel very tired and lacking energy and drive. Used to be energetic and that is not the case now. Electrolytes register on the low side. Have had 3 hospital visits in last six months with dizziness and general unwellness. One visit was for extreme knee pain which has lasted over one month and is continuing even with physical therapy. Visiting a special in Atrial Fibrillation in Oct. and hope to discuss coming off this drug. I started with the trial pack and have been on 40mg for a week now. Im not sure if it started with the 20mg or the 40mg, but I have had horrible nightmares. I could not even tell myself if I was just dreaming or in reality. They have been such intense frightening dreams that I have prayed to God to wake me up if it was in fact a dream. One time when the dream continued I really panicked thinking it was my real life. We are talking about very scary dreams that felt like I was alive and living through them. I have never been so scared in my life. I literally could not decide if I was dreaming or not. I'm not sure why it keeps happening but I wont be continuing with this sheer terror if it keeps up any longer. And I have never had nightmares until taking this new medicine. It appears others have had frightining dreams as well, so you guys be careful. I would rather have GI issues over hallucinations/nightmares any day. I have also been very irritable and angry since starting the medicine, and that is not like me at all. Ive snapped at family a few times and thats not normal for me. I'm not an angry person at all.
