I have asthma and this is the first time my doctor has ever prescribed this for me. I came down with sever lung infection with congestion in my lungs and nasal cavities. I took 50 mg the first day decreasing 10 mgs for the next 7 days. So far the only side effect has been severe night sweats the first night but my lungs/sinus improved almost immediately. 1st dose I couldn't sleep and had abdominal pain. 2nd dose took at work, became dizzy and began vomitting. 3rd dose stomach pains but on the way to work became disoriented and very anxious and my legs started to feel numb. Scared the crap out of me. I quit taking it and I still have the anxious and woozey feeling when I try to drive. I wish I knew how long it takes for the side effects to subside. I was given this med for severe Shingles pain. I suffered for over a month before my dr. prescribed the gabapentin. It worked like a miracle. This is a dangerous medication.....patient needs to be taken off the medication slowly; there needs to be lower dosages offered (5 mg and 2 mg) in order to be weaned off the medication.
