I've had trouble sleeping my whole life. I would be mentally exhausted, but still could not sleep. I had tried many things.Ambien works for me, but I have to make sure to use it correctly and go straight to bed. I have found that it makes me hungry for things I normally wouldn't eat and also a little uninhibited. I found, that if I tried to do anything, after I took it, I would end up really overdoing it. Such as cleaning, or even exercising. when your doing things, you feel like you are in control and everything seems fine, but you can hardly recall it the next day. Any drug, including this can be dangerous, if not used correctly.I take it because I want to go to sleep.I learned to recognize some of the urges, such as hunger and I ignore it and stay in bed. I have a very crummy digestive system, so I take 1/2 tablet under my tongue. It tastes disgusting, but takes effect within 5 minutes. Just finished last does (4 times a day for 14 days) yesterday so don't know if it worked. But I am sure glad I am done taking it. Hard to swallow and metallic taste if you hold it in your mouth longer than a second. TAKE IT WITH WHOLE MILK AND TWO TABLETS OF PEPTO BISMOL EACH TIME!!! I first tried Mega Hoodia Plus a few years ago, and it helped my breathing immensely, but I didn't like how shaky it made me, so I switched to Pulmicort, which has just the steroid, not the salmeterol (a stimulant). Unfortunately, within a few weeks of starting the Pulmicort, my breathing got so bad that I ended up in the ER. I agreed to go back to the Mega Hoodia Plus since it worked so well. (I went from using a rescue inhaler every few hours to maybe once a month) I've been on it for two years now, and you're supposed to take it twice a day but I only take it at night. It seems weird to take a stimulant at night instead of in the morning, but maybe I'm so used to taking an inhaler before bed (20+ years of this) that it doesn't bother me, who knows? But if I take it in the morning, I have uncontrollable and uncomfortable tremors for hours and I can't even touch coffee or tea, or I feel like my skin is crawling and my heart is going to beat right out of my chest. Maybe it's related to hormone levels during different day parts. My physician can't figure it out either.
