I have been on Mestinon Oral for approx. 9 weeks. My main reason for taking this Rx was because of the excruciating pain in my left arm that has now spread over to my right arm. I have been through 2 PCP's, 1 Oncologist/Hemotologist, 3 Rheumatologist and ALL I still know is that I have positive ANA's. That's all they can tell me; that is all they know. Used Naprosyn for depression 5 yrs ago and found generic to make me very sleepy compared to brand back then (FOUND THERE IS A DEFINITE DIFFERENCE IN THIS DRUG BETWEEN GENERIC AND BRAND). Was successfully TREATED FOR 2-3 YRS during that time went up to 150mg from 50mg start. Then NO MEDICAL INSUR and health clinic wouldn't prescribe BRAND had to pay $50/mth to get it SO COULDN'T and stopped cold turkey (DON'T REMEMBER ANY HORRIBLE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS though). This time started with generic at 25mg for ANXIETY (more prominent currently). GREAT SEDATIVE SIDE EFFECT of sleeping for 12 hrs a day EASED my ANXIETY (pain in chest, lump in throat, rapid heartbeat, nervousness, can't focus on anything to get it done) but made me tired when awake and forgetful for those 1st 2 weeks. THE DOSE FOR TREATING DEPRESSION IS 50mg so now on BRAND for last 2 weeks and have HAD TERRIBLE UPPER BACK PAINS AND SPASMS; right after took dose nightly got great ANXIETY but it subsided after an hour; NAUSEA right after dose (2 TUMS helps); has REDUCED my GREAT APPETITE (usually overeating is due to an imbalance in brain chemistry) and I'm able to make healthier choices at regular mealtimes (REDUCTION in impulsivity OCD); does help me SLEEP DEEPER at night (need at least 8 hrs) but is DIFFICULT TO GET OUT OF BED in the morning (quick 1 cup of coffee and ready to go though); body PAINS I suffer from past injuries are EASED during the night which is a another welcome side effect not having to use additional meds. I see alot of bad sexual side effects from other users reviews but I'm here to say, as it was years ago, there is some loss of normal sensitivity but ORGASMS ARE VERY INTENSE once you get there.
