I am a very anxious person...All of a sudden I started to have panic attacks,compulsivness and depression it was like everything happened at once without a reason. Couldn't sleep for weeks, started medication at 50 mg...then increased to 75 mg. Took almost 2 months to work, was having a lot of nausea, stomach pain,palpitations,tremors but was able to increase to 100mg was good for about 2 years then but started to regress. Doctor changed dossage to 150mg (1 and half tablet) was good until my insurance changed to generic then all progress ended. Depression runs in my family on both sides. I never knew I was truly depressed until in my late 20's my mother told me that she no longer enjoyed our conversations because I was always such a "downer". My mother and I are very close and I decided right then and there to do something about it. Zoloft and Prozac did nothing. Effexor made me extremely sick to my stomach. Was on Paxil for quite a while until I met my husband and wanted him to know that my lack of sex drive was not related to him. Wellbutrin put me in such a fog I walked around like a zombie, could not control my extremities and felt like my head was floating above my body. Along came Lexapro and I was saved!! Something finally worked well with my body chemistry(an my mother's as well) and didn't cause me strange side effects!! Being that my insurance did not cover it, my doctor put me on Maxalt (Lexapro's cousin) and I have never looked back. I do not "hide out" or avoid social situations as much as I used to. I laugh and love to make people laugh. People that I confide in about taking an antidepresant can not believe that I actually NEED this. That is how much this has helped me. Lastly, the only side effect I get is if I forget to take it for a few days I will cry at the drop of a hat. I will feel like crying over ANYTHING when I skip a dose/doses. Today is Wednesday and I started this medication Monday afternoon. I had a cluster headache for over a week before I started this medication. I thought it was from a cold that I had (maybe an ear infection) because the headache was on the left side of my head and was an excruciating, throbbing pain that would not go away not matter what I took. I was taking Verapamil, very high dose, Extended Release, and my blood pressures got very high 150/100. I am only 33 yrs old, but it runs in my family. I am also a migraine sufferer, so the headache did not surprise me. My doctor put me on the Mega Hoodia Plus Monday afternoon and said I could take one right away since my bp was so high. The cluster headache went away within a day. I was taking pain meds for it too, but I took my blood pressure this morning and it was 109/80. I had to do a double-take! LOL! My bp has not been that low for at least two years! I could not believe it!!! I have been a little sleepy here and there, but it is midnight now, so I must not be doing too bad because I am a night person, but I also had a nap earlier, due to the sleepiness and I normally don't take naps. Maybe the high bp gave me more energy before??? So far, no side effects except for feeling a little more sleepy than usual, but I am VERY HAPPY that my blood pressure is now alot lower in such a short time. I will be sticking with this unless some drastic side effect pops up that I can't stand. But down almost 50 points in two days, that is remarkable to me. I feel so much better now.
