I am 22 and i have been on adderall since i was 14. This drug is insanely addictive and thats what I hate about it. Sure it works, makes you focus, you can go without sleep easier then others, it makes you lose weight (i myself lost 55 pounds), and it makes you more sociable with others. But the price you pay is that you become dependent on it. Why would you want a drug to do all the work for you? It's going to cause health problems, most likely cardiac, if not now, in the future. You'll have to stay on it forever (my doctor literally said that i would have to take it forever, im not kidding), and if you find it in yourself to quit, you'll hate the world when you go off of it. i tried to quit 4 years ago, got off of it for a year, and i couldn't take it, i had to get back on it. In my eyes, people do cocaine or meth for reasons similar to adderall. They need to stay up and get things done, feel happy, and they are addicted. Don't get on it. Learn to focus the old fashioned way. Because you'll still get that diploma, or certification, or acheive happiness and at the end of it all, you wont feel like you cheated or owe it all to adderall, you'll just be proud of yourself and have no dependencies. Thats soo much better and I really wish my parents would have just given me that option. Oh and one more thing, females have to get off of it when you get pregnant and thats scary to go through withdrawls and then go and be pregnant. I have been on abilify for 3 weeks and it has helped me tremendously. I also take wellbutrin and effexor. I am 53 and have suffered from depression for most of my life. The abilify has worked better than any other drug. I can now function like a normal person. I have much more energy and my anger and constant sadness are gone. The only down side is the cost, even with insurance it's $80 a month. My husband says it's a small price to pay for a miracle. First 2 wks were wonderful.Severe pain gone and I woke up in a good mood for first time in yrs. As dosage increased, I felt worse. Sweating all the time, constipation so bad I bled when I finally went,confusion and finally vision problems.Dr said to cut in half and take 25mg a.m. & p.m. Pain was back but not as bad,vision improved and not as bad with the sweating.Constipation lessened.
