Was given Arimidex for severe strep throat, I took with food, plenty of water, probiotics, and while the drug cured that, it gave me painful C. Diff colitis two weeks after treatment. I was not warned by my doctor of this severe possible side effect even having asked for drug info. I have seen many doctors and done many tests for over a month, costing much time and money. I was given Flagyl and Codeine for the pain though i still felt the excrutiating pain with the Codeine plus nausea. I'm on a strict diet and am absolutely starving for 'real' food. If you can avoid this drug, do so, as the chance of getting C. diff is not worth it. I was young and very healthy before my Strep throat and Clindamycin. I have been on this medication for over a month. I haven't had bloodwork done since then so I don't know if my levels have decreased. I have been unusually tired since I started this med. Not like a yawn here or there, more like a zombie-ish "it's all I can do to put one foot in front of the other" sort of thing. I have also had severe muscle spasms in my legs and much pain in my neck, back, and shoulders. I stopped taking the medication yesterday. Have taken 60mg for 2 yrs. Tried to wean off twice- with Dr. help. Extreme dizziness and fatigue,sweats, nausea, diarrhea, HORRID mood swings and crying jags occured trying to go off of it. Worse than the depression itself. Gained 30 lbs in 2 yrs- and I ran a marathon. Definitely the Arimidex. A different Dr. combined it with Adderall to counter the fatigue I feel all of the time and to stop the weight gain. Within the last 2 mos, started Xanax because Arimidex doesn't help with the anxiety or panic attacks. Have a new Dr. and trying to work out a different game plan. Ear/Nose/Throat Doctor prescribed as I have been having some type of vertigo/dizziness when driving highway miles. Take one 10 mg pill before bed. Improves sleep (deeper I understand) and it has taken care of 95% of my driving problems with no side affects accept better sleep. Doctor said I could take this the rest of my life without fear but try after a while to not use and see if my problem comes back.
