Have severely swollen and purple feet. Medication wires me as if I were on speed. It actually is HYDROCOD/ACET 10/325 MG. Q 4-6 Hrs., PRN. 1 TAB as prescribed is not very effective. 2 TABS. in addition to 2 TBS. I have degenerative discs in several areas of my spine: lumbar (L5, S1) & cervical (C4 - C7) causing many other muscluar & nerve issues. Pain stabbing & radiating from my spine to various regions of my right side all the way to extremeties. Also, my neck & shoulder region, that spawn migraines. Basically, my whole right side is a mess! Pain, spasms, and constant discomfort led me to lack sleep. At most, I totalled 4 hrs of sleep per night. For 7 months, I've been seeing an Orthopedic Surgeon for my condition. He administered cortisone injections, prescribed 800 mg Skelaxin & 5/325 Percocet-APAP. Also, prior to shots, a series of Predisone. The shots did not work to ease my pain--minimal % level at best (went from having level 8 pain to about 7.75). However, I did gain a 40 lbs in 1 month! The shots wore off within two weeks of the series end. Then was given another shot with two needles that were extremely long & heavy gauged which he criss crossed through my lower back, aiming one in my buttocks. This was so painful both at time of being given, and sore for 3 days after in the entire lower region of my torso. Still, I have no relief from pain, even with the medications given, and much heavier weight! The lbs bear more pressure on my back and hip, and makes me hurt worse! My PCP recommended I see a Pain Mgmt. Specialist, and showed me several write-ups for DDD/spinal surgery for my age group. I am 37. He said it is not good to get surgery, because I will have to have more as I age. Eventually I'll have less bone to "shave", scar tissue, and long term effects. Nothing I have been on works for me to relieve the pain and discomfort. I recently seen a Pain Mgmt. Spec., and she gave me Neurotin to take at night only. Plus opiates for the day, as she peforms nerve tests, etc. on me to see why meds aren't easing my pain. I've been on Neurotin for 3 weeks. So far, it has enabled me to sleep most every night. I was first put on 150mg for coping with being in a plane crash. Then a few years after, I developed Breast Cancer and the doctor's kept me on it. I am in complete remission from the cancer and but the drug is not helping now with any night sweats or hot flashes and I have gained 50 pounds.
