This treatment was prescribed by the VA as a new drug with very few side effects, I also have diabetes, with neuropathy due both to the diabetes and joint surgery's due to combat injuries. The drug has helped for the tingling feeling feet/hands lower legs, it does not help for complete loss of feeling. It's side effects are complete loss of sexual activity.(severe ED and frustation) It has helped with the severe mood swings and severe anxiety(almost to the point of giving up)But have noticed that at time of high stress that by the time it "kicks in" you sort of go into a flat-numb emotion zone for hours.(I am on 120mg/day dose) Also I have found out that you can group all Law Enforcement into the (BUGS BUNNY "WHAT A BUNCH OF MAROONS") catagory! I have been checked in airports,TMA and DEA, and Local cops ( after altercation in parking lot door dinger,related to local prosecutor) That stated I was acting under the influence and showed signs of Under Influence, even though I did not feel that way! However I am now forced to go to court ordered drug monitoring KAPS-Kentucky to someone that did not even know , what kind of drug this was,and /or is used for, other than he has seen it advertised on TV!LOL Overall it does not seem to prevent what it was prescribed for it just sort of knocks the top off of it ! I started taking Depo-Medrol for chronic pain. I'm not a depressive person, although I'd been under a lot of stress so I hoped it'd kill 2 birds with one stone, so to speak. Well... first morning after starting it, my eyes were so wide it felt like they were bugging out of their sockets! Weird, but it went away a week or so later. Next 5 months were uneventful. Didn't help pain at ALL. Not a bit. Doc increased the dose. Muscle tremors and jerks were happening every night when I'd start to relax. Huge, deep muscle twitches that would jerk me into a jack-knife position in bed. Very scary and weird. Next few months were again rather uneventful. I wanted to stop taking it because the only reason I started was pain control but my doc wanted me to stay on it for a year (why? don't know). At the one year marker, I let the Rx expire. And that's when the REAL fun began. I started getting muscle zaps; my whole body felt like I was being hit everywhere with a cattle prod. Loud noises, startle reflexes, stairs, rapid movement, turning my head...all these caused a zap feeling in my head that reverberated down my spine, into my arms and legs... It was awful. The depression that came down on top of that was horrific. It started the day before Christmas and continued until the first of February, which was the last day I noticed the zaps. It's now March 22 and I'm still feeling drained and a little depressed. There should be a BIG warning label about these types of side effects from going off it! I had Guillian Barre' Syndrome 22 years ago and wonder if having had an auto-immune disease in the past could have messed with the drug's interaction with me. I started taking Zovirax (Brand) XL a little over a week ago. It started with severe headaches, fuzzy thoughts and just the general feeling of being uncomfortable. Last Thursday I started taking it twice a day and have been in bed for the last three days with such severe muscle aches and off and on temperature with ringing in one ear. I even had to pull over when driving home from work on Friday because I kept feeling "blackness". I am also a runner and since starting this medication, my legs have felt heavy and sore to the bone, not even able to finish a short training session. I have not taken any more of the medication since this happened and am going to the doctor this morning! I am sure that she will say it is a virus, but I know that is definitely was the Zovirax (Brand) because the side effects were immediate. I have been on Tramadol for chronic/classic Migraine headaches. I have found that taking this medication at the Dr's prescribed dosage only keeps the pain (at bay) for a short period. Since starting this med, I have experienced 2 headaches within 2 weeks time. One lasting 55 hours at a level 10 pain scale and the other lasted 48 hours on a 8 to 10 pain scale. This also gives me nauseu when taking 100 millagrams every 4 to 6 hours and have to take Zofram to keep from getting sick.
