I started taking this on 9/1/10 (30mgs) & weighed 260lbs (5'8"). I've lost 40lbs with a strict diet of 700-900 calories/day. The 1st 2-3 days I had more energy but after that I went back to the usual. The 1st week I lost 10lbs so when the weight loss slowed it was discouraging but I kept at it & have been losing 2-5lbs/week since. The 1st month I was exercising twice/week at the gym for at least 2 hours each time & lost about 17lbs total but the 2nd month I started a new job & I now I only get to go every other weekend but I push myself hard the whole time I'm there & I cut my calories a little more. After the 1st month my hunger started to come back around dinner time & it was much harder to not each junk food so my doctor changed my dose to 37.5mg & it's been working great ever since & I lost about 16lbs the 2nd month & another 7lbs so far this month. I would like to lose another 60lbs over the next 5 months but my doctor won't let me keep taking it for that long. I'm afraid that once I stop taking the pills I'll gain all the weight back because before I started taking them I felt like I was staving all the time no matter how often or how much I ate. It's so easy to watch what I eat with the pills but I don't know if I can keep up with not touching any fatty or sweet foods & eating such tiny portions afterwards. I started Clonidine to help with hot flashes.I was also using it to replace my former B.P. meds. I started out at .1 2x daily. Over time I increased (with my PCP's approval) to 1.2 mg. daily. Yes I was taking .3 4x daily. I never got over the side effects. I had them all. When it came time to increase once again, (because the dose always became ineffective over time) I was told by a pharmacist that I was taking double the regular maximum dose, & was I sure that I wanted to increase again. I got frightened by this, but also wondered why my PCP never said anything. I stayed at the same dose. Of course my BP was always too high. So I decided to taper off. I began reducing by 1/4 of .1 at a time, & I began supplementing with Lisinopril. Everything was going well for about a month. Then I started spotting. This is not good since I'm 58 & postmenopausal. It's been 11 days now & I'm bleeding to the point where I have to take an iron tablet daily. My gynecologist said that this was actually good because it meant that my estrogen levels were rising. Meaning that the Clonidine had suppressed them to begin with. I haven't spoken to my gyne since the 1st day. The bleeding is not showing any signs of stopping. Has anyone else had this experience? i just finished a 10 Zoloft/Cippro combo and had NO adverse side effects. The pain diminished after 2 days and was gone after 5 days. I drank nothing but a couple cups of coffee in the morning and nothing but water the rest of the day. I did notice the metalic taste to the water but no effect on food.
