I started the med in 2011. My life seemed amazing. I could concentrate at work, and had energy out the roof. I slept good and woke refreshed. Downside is that I became immune to it very fast and had to keep increasing my dose. I ended up taking 1 40 mg & 1 60 mg daily. My insurance covered the 2 prescriptions, but I also had 2 copays. I finally realized it was not working as well as it should. My doctor put me on Concerta. I did not like it. I was dizzy and my mood was awful and I was tired all the time. I did lose over 70 pounds on Renova, which was a huge benefit. I was never hungry and always was on the go. I always had a perfect complexion, Renova made me break out BAD! I had huge zits on my face like a teenager to the point of scarring. I also feel it caused my divorce. My mood changed so much, and yet it gave me the insight to see I was miserable for many years. I had the guts to finally tell my husband I was done in the marriage and he needed to find someone more suited for him. I was a hermit before I started taking this. I worked 60 hours a week and never went anywhere further than the grocery store. I now love to travel and met someone who fits my personality. I did gain about 35 pounds back after I had been on it over a year. Some of the weight gain is my own fault, but my appetite came back and my metabolism has slowed. I had experienced some high blood pressure on it, but it is now normal and the EKG was perfect. I am hoping the 1 month off of it makes it work better since I gained such an immunity to it. The other side effect I have had is a very bad headache around 2:00 pm and feeling blah. I find I was drinking Monster & 5 hour shots way too much. I can say that I also became moody before my divorce. I would get angry for no good reason. The anger helped me get through my divorce & made my ex glad to get rid of me! My advice: if your friends & family say your mood has changed for the worse, believe them and step back and take a look at your life. by LANE from Kennett, MO
This might not happen to any body else out there, but i posted a note the last one about all of the side effects that I thought this drug was causing me. I started on this drug 9/09. I was nervous, dizzy, tired, thirsty, and my knee joints started hurting to the point that I could barely walk. My left thigh and foot swelled and I thought I might be in CHF. I had an echocardiogram & there was NOTHING wrong with my heart. I went to a new Cardiologist and he didn't understand with my records why I was put on Atomoxetine in the first place. He took me off that drug and it's been 6 days, and ALL of my side effects ARE GONE! My leg has gone down, my joint pain has stopped. When you get knee pain that goes from 0 to 100 within 3 weeks it's not just arthritis. I was taking arthritis tylenol & now I don't need it. I've put up with this for almost a year and I had no clue it could be the Atomoxetine until I started resreaching side effects. I was not going to settle for arthritis in my knees or venus veins in ONE leg and not the other. I am back to ALMOST normal thanks to this new cardiologist but thanks to MYSELF and the others on here that took the time to post that they also had trouble with this drug. I hope that many others out there will CHECK things that come on suddenly. Now my husband takes Atomoxetine and he has never had a problem. but he had a heart attack at 59 with a 98% right coronary artery. He has a reason to be on it.
