I have been taking Metformin for several years. I take 500mg twice a day morning & night. Need to talk to doc about increasing dosage. Tried Avandia & Actos which both caused me to gain weight. I take Glipizide with the Metformin and this combo seems to work fine. My last a1c was 8.2 so need to eat better. Have a hard time controlling my diet and do not exercise much. Although it has been some time since I was prescribed this medication, I felt, after reading other people's reviews, that someone may benefit from my experience. Started 50 mg in early October 06 and knew that I was experiencing extreme fatique. By December - when I usually scurry through holiday shopping with my grandchildren - I had to lean on cars as I struggled through the parking lot, and push (hang on to) shopping carts to spend even half hour in stores with frequent sitting. Now that I'm off that med, I always want to ask people who move like I did then, if they take Atenolol. It is wonderful that most of the reviews say it helped hearts. Wish I could have been included.
