Started taking this med Oct08 & it worked great at lowering my LDL/TriG levels. But in Jan09 I suddenly developed a severe migraine headache that lasted 10 WEEKS non-stop! Nothing would relieve the pain but the strongest migraine meds and they would only work for a few hours. After numerous tests and treatments(xray, MRI, therapy, pain meds) I asked my MD if it could be the Pavastatin since that was the only thing that had changed in recent months. I stopped taking it and by the 3rd day the pain had significantly decreased. Now a month out the headache is completely gone and so is the muscle pain that I didn't realize had also developed. I had previously been on Vytorin but developed muscle pain and stiffness all over, (but no headache that I remember). Thus the change to Pravastatin. I've found that it's easy NOT to relate this muscle pain, headache, etc. to these statins because they develope so slowly over months. My mother was given this medicine for a sore throat. Norvasc was suppose to be an antibiotic that was preferred for patients taking Digoxin for atrial fibrillation. Approx 20 minutes after taking the medication she experience a period of complete blindness for approx. 20 minutes. This is a awful medication and needs to be removed from the market. I've been on the 20mg SR capsule for one month. One in the morning to give me pain relief throughout the day. It seems to take a couple hours to start doing much good. I still need to take 2 Tramadol and sometimes 2 1/2 to 5 mg. Oxycodone as soon as I can eat something to get me going. After those wear off I don't have much pain until late evening about the time I'm going to bed. If I have breakthrough pain during the day I use Tramadol or aspirin + caffine and that is enough.
