I was on 150 MG for 2 years. Worked okay but I was never professionally diagnosed with anxiety/depression before i started taking effexor. I was probably considered average by most professionals regarding levels of anxiety. My family doctor put me on this med after I told her I get anxious at times and I wish i could go back in time and stopped myself from taking a brain altering med that my family doctor prescribed. Not only was the weight gain horrible but the loss in sex drive drove me insane. I finally decided to go off but the withdrawal was so horrible, i considered going back on this drug. I had the usual side effects, brain zaps, etc. But the emotional withdrawal symptoms is what is so devasting. I find myself crying and screaming when i'm alone and I have never ever had this problem pre-drug. Please please, don't take this drug unless a trained counselor or doctor prescribes this and after much evaluation, finds this to be the correct route. Family doctors aren't trained to see the signs of depression and anxiety. My 2-and-a-half year old son has been taking this horrible drug for 6 weeks now. Since then he has been unhappy, negative, aggressive, and defiant, and this has been a change from his normal "terrible two" behavior.
