I have been using this drug for over 5 years. I am afraid I am addicted and want to get off. I cannot sleep without them now. I have heard horror stories about getting off them and am scared to death of the withdrawls. Any info out there about people using this drug for this long and having a bad time getting off. I have only been taking 15 mgs a night, but have had to go up to 30 due to increased tolerance. My Doctor says the benifits fo taking them outweigh not being able to sleep. I started taking this medication about 2 weeks ago. I couldn't figure out why I was so tired all the time and my legs and arms were so weak. Then I read reviews on this site. I had severe fatigue and weakness in muscles and joints similiar to what other people were having. I stopped taking it 2 days ago and am feeling better already! This new oxycontin OP is the worse drug ever it is no longer effective for pain like the old OC and it cause adverse reactions. I feel horrible again I don't know why they have to change what was the most effective pain releiver for chronic pain. I lost both lobes of my thyroid to tumors - Hurthle Cell Carcinoma at the age of 40. I am now 68. For most of the interim, I took a strong dose of synthroid (generic did not work as well) to suppress any cancer cells that might have remained. Recently two different doctors have advised me to reduce the synthroid to normal prescription levels and that has not caused any problems so far. BUT I would like to share an odd story. I am white, Anglo-Saxon and have always been able to eat cheeses and milk with no problem. About 4 years ago, I became totally lactose intolerance and now I have to take Lactaid with any meal I suspect has milk products in it. In researching how this could come about, I found that thyroid hormone in growing children is largely responsible for "maturing" their digestive systems so they don't digest mother's milk any more, which is totally normal in many races and most animals. My humble opinion is that the continuous high doses of synthroid wiped out my ability to produce lactase enzyme and to digest milk products.
