Taking this drug for muscle spasms related to L4/5 degenerative disk disease and severe leg pain. It does work very well for the spasms which start in my back and wrap around to the front. However...very sedating! I got great sleep, but could barely function next day. Dr cut dose in half which helped, but this drug leaves a terrible taste in my mouth for up to 2 days, plus the dry mouth. I only take it when I am desperate. by EDDIE from Middlebrook, VA
Diarrhea, incredibly vivid disturbing nightmares that seem to relate to the reasons of my condition. Even if I wake up, walk around a bit, the nightmare resumes when I go back to sleep. Taking the generic for 2 years. For me it has been awesome. After reading the reviews I call into question some of my past emotional instability and whether it is from this medication. I have degenerative disc disease, double sway back and vertebrae breaking down - especially in my neck. I am like a bobble head with my broken neck. This drug is not a pain reliever like a narcotic. It is spec. designed to reduce muscle cramps that cause pain. Think of horrific leg cramps, i.e. I see some are confused. This works very well and sometimes spells the difference of walking that day and/or holding my head and shoulders up in combo with meloxicam (mobic). It does not make me sleepy like antihistamines (flexeril) and other than muscle cramp/pain relief I cannot tell I'm taking it. Have trouble with my liver via urinary infections. Hard on the liver (as is mobic) but my quality of life is so much better. Now ... if I can find a REAL doctor who will perform urinalysis occasionally like they are supposed to... I've taken several anti-depressants over years and cymbalta seems to work no better or worse than any other. Our success with these meds varies so much it's barely valid to compare without trying them each for a month. My issue was with incredible headaches both starting and getting off this med. Other side effects were tollerabe for me and the sexual side effect was positive for me. But overall the med was a fail for me. I have bad back and started taking this and got the worst addiction of my life. It made me very moody and worst withdrawals of my life. I almost died. It messes with your respiratory system. I had to go to hospital twice because I couldnt keep any fluids. This pill messes with your hormones. It is almost as bad as oxycontin. It is extremely habit forming.
