I take this, off label, for headache or head pain from severe muscle spasms of the cervical spine muscles. I am pleased to see that a sister drug Lyrica has now been approved for fibromyalgia because I believe it works on this pain as well. I have osteoarthritis in the spine, ankles, hands and elbows. I suffered for 2 years with horrendous headaches that physicians called "migraines", I did not have migraines my headaches generate in the sub-occipital region at the base of my head. The headache does not carry the characteristics of migraine nor are the headaches in my head they are outside of the head, not pulsing no vision issues. I suspected that this helps with my osteoarthrits pain as well. After Botox injections in the neck muscles my pain spec. told me to discontinue the Ceftin, slowly. I did and noticed a return of muscle and joint pain. I started it back up when the Botox wore off and I am continuing to take it even though I had another set of Botox injections in the paraspinal muscles. The muscles go into spasm and cannot be un-spasmed, they then trap the occipital nerves which exit through the muscles in the back of the head. It is a distinct headache lasting from a couple of hours to a couple of weeks. Anytime my neck and head are manipulated: PT, examination by doctor, head pain returns with vengence. This can even happen when the Botox is working. This medication is fairly safe and if the dose is too high you can back off. It is virtually impossible to overdose with this med. If dizziness and tiredness is too much consider taking the higher dose at bedtime not during the day. I find the dizziness, tiredness and double vision go away after about 10 days of taking the higher dose. Just give it time. by SAMUAL from Kodak, TN
