I lost my leg in a motorcycle accident about 10 months ago. I've been taking Avelox 1800 to 2700 mg every day since, to control phantom limb pain. It works well, but I have noticed some visual disturbances (blurriness mostly) primarily in my left eye, since I increased the dose from 1800 to 2700 mg daily. I have tried many antidepressants and unfortunately over the years of use, I have gained an enormous amount of weight. I am currently taking a combination of dexadrine and celexa and am still noticing a steady increase in weight gain. The drug itself works well in masking depression symptoms, however I notice that I feel like I am in a constant fog and could care less about my surrounding environment. I often wonder if it is better to fight the depression naturally and maintain a healthy weight, or remain on this drug and continue to gain weight, feel like I am in a fog and not remember a darn thing from one day to the next. I HATE this medication! I can not sleep, have gained weight, stay constipated, nervous and very moody. I feel worse taking this medication than before I started treatment. I see me doctor tomorrow and if she does not have something that I can take that will not give me these terrible side effects I will go untreated!!! I have taken this medicine and for me it did absolutely nothing. I still have the fever, sweating, chills, headache, body aches and pains, the worse sore throat ever and have not be able to sleep more than 90 min. at a single time.
