DO NOT TAKE this Drug. IT HAS RUINED MY LIFE!!! I took 3 pills for a sinus infection along with prednisone back in May 2008 and still have not recovered from the effects. Initially, I had extreme dizziness, clouded thinking, nausea, rapid heart beat, elevated blood pressure, memory loss, can't concentrate. I was off of work 6 weeks had to quite school. Today, I suffer daily from severe fatigue, memory loss, lack of concentration, visual and spatial impairment, no adrenaline, insomnia. can't drive at dusk or at night, hard time recognizing things people surroundings, head and facial pain. I have been to neurologists, endocrinologists, gp, internists, ents to no avail. I barely make it to work daily and lay around when I get home. Prior to this I was working, going to school three nights a week, studying, going out with family, enjoying life. Now everyday is sooooooooooo difficult even to get up in the morning. I have been on this medication for a year. I have had severe side effects that the doctor says could not be the medication. I finally went to a heart specialist. It was determined I was over medicated. I started taking 50mg. I had all of the severe side effects and more! I have been in the hospital twice this year. The last time was not a heart attack... it was a panic attack caused from blood pressure dropping to 80/34. I am now taking 2,5mg about every other day and it still drops to 90/54 in the evenings! I have had trouble falling asleep as too many stresses fill my mind at night. Also, my blood pressure is up so rather than take blood pressure meds, I am taking .05 but have only had to take it during the day two times. It does help me to fall asleep but I have been taking it for two months and I think I need to take it at least 30 minutes before I plan on going to bed so it will work better. I have read some of the reviews and hope you are all doing well - where it can be habit forming, just make sure that before your meds get too low, you make an appointment with your doctor to get them refilled. I NEVER write reviews for anything, but I felt like I needed to warn people about this. PLEASE don't take this drug. I was prescribed 500 mg Clindamycin to prevent an infection after getting wisdom teeth removed. I felt so horrible and groggy after the surgery, I didn't even research the drug before I took it (which I usually always do). I only took it for 4 days and from the 1st dose, it gave my terrible nausea and diarrhea. And sparing the details, the diarrhea was BAD. I called and the Dr told me to stop taking it, but by then it had already changed my life. The pain and diarrhea lasted for weeks, and my primary finally believed it wasn't just "antibiotic diarrhea" and did a stool sample. Positive for c-diff. I went on 2 rounds of Flagyl but the symptoms continued. Many months, bathroom breaks, and tears later, I was finally diagnosed with Crohns Disease. They say the c-diff doesn't cause it and I must have already had it, but I was completely healthy and normal before the surgery. The c-diff "activated" the Crohns, which I'll now be suffering with for my whole life. I always think about how many more healthy, happy days I would have had left if I hadn't taken the Clindamycin. So, this may not have "caused" my Crohns but it definitely caused the c-diff and many months of pain and suffering. By the way, I'm only 25.
