I have been taking this med for at least 5 years for migraine prevention. The frequency of my migraines has been reduced greatly and when I do have one it is not a serve as before. The side effects have their good and bad side. All soda tastes flat! I use to only drink on special occassions, but when on this med I can't drink at all which is just with me. On the other hand I have lost a considerable amount of weight and feel like my mood is now stable as compared to before. The largest drawback that I have to this med is take it can cause kidney stones. I have had 2 since taking this med. I have been taking this for over a year and it has helped with the depression, especially at first. Now I notice I start to "run down" mid afternoons. I generally sleep well, but if I ever wake up, it's impossible to get back to sleep. I do have periods of slight confusion and difficulty concentrating. That could be something besides the medication, like age. I recently had a sigmoid ectomy and 1 month later I got a pulmonary embolism in my left lung. The surgeon said it was probably due tot he infection I had from the surgery. This medicine has made me so sick that I've decided I am done with it after just being on it for a little over a month now. I get these bee sting like pains all over my body, my legs hurt as does my sides and recently I have had pain in my head. I complained to the doctor, had a CAT scan yesterday and nothing was found.
