I was diagnosed with bronchitis and on a whim recieved my sense of smell and taste back which I lost over 10 yes TEN years ago. go figure. I called the Dr and he gave me another round and I must say at 50 I haven't felt this good since I was in my late 30's early 40's. I had assumed it was age..It wasn't obviously. I have another appt next week and I am happy to say I shouldv'e pushed the issue with the last 3 Dr's about my condition but I never got anywhere until this Propecia was prescribed (I had never even heard of it) The only time I smelled or tasted was breifly on the steroid predisone which I didn't like at all. Sometimes it would reappear and I would eat like hell because I knew it wouldn't last. It has been 3 weeks total. Also my tounge isn't coated all the time anymore. Is this normal I don't know but it's nice to use less salt and spices on my cereal in the morning and that is NO joke. Just a WARNING: Worst Drug I've ever been given for my crappie flops. I had such terrible side effects from irritability, agitation, mood swings, depression to a short temper and I would blow up on the most petty things & that cost me a few friends. When I told my dr. he ignored the serious side effects and said Well you've always had a temper and been moody with me?? I was stunned. I mean this to me is neglect!! Although I have since slowly cut my dose in half and found myself having less seizures, and been told I'm more laid back and not aggressive or short tempered anymore. I think the dose I was taking was causing such anxiety and aggression that it was causing me to have anxiety seizures. So to me this proves that the dr.s in my region are in it for the $$$ only and Just playing a guessing game in a white coat, and getting rich doing it! Day 1 on 10 mg...immediate difference noticed in despression...no crying spells...not sleeping well at all...3-4 hours instead of 8-9. Day 3-10mg...woke up weak, green, anxiety, heart racing and vomiting...I did have a couple of drinks earlier in the evening...wasn't aware that drinking alcohol was a bad mixture with this medicine....Day 13 -- 20 mg...woke with extreme headache lasting almost 12 hrs. Day 14 -- moved up to 30 mg instead of 40 mg as instructed -- woke up confused, anxiety, heart racing, green, sweating and vomiting again...no alcohol this time, but think I didn't eat enough food with pill in the morning. Although these side effects that everyone is talking about and what I have experienced is quite scary...I'm planning on toughing it out in hopes that the side effects will subside as other readers have stated. I plan to take 30 mg for a couple of weeks before moving up to 40 mg...if it all. I did start taking Melatonin supplements to help me sleep and it has helped tremendously...after one week of no sleep, I was very irritable and impatient. I'm starting to feel less anxious, irritable and impatient and the daily crying spells have stopped!
