My Dr gave me this to help me sleep. It did not help me fall asleep. It did seem to help a little to keep me asleep once I finally fell asleep. But these made me SO groggy and just out of it during the day. I could not focus, kept loosing my train of thought, and just wasn't clear headed at all. If u have trouble with ambien, then try ambien-CR instead. I was on the generic ambien. Worked for a short while, then I started having issues not sleeping very long, or if I failed to take it then I was totally unable to sleep. Like a caffeine high. My doc switched to the ambien-CR. The CR type is a lot more costly cause no generic for the CR. BUT... the ambien-CR is A LOT more effective, gentle, and not addictive. You can go on - off it and not get messed up. I can get to sleep without it. But I only take ambien when I MUST get good sleep. The “CR” type is much more user-friendly. And you will not wake after 2 or 3 hours, tossing and turning like I did on the non-CR type.I work nights and sleep days, so that is why I need it, to get good sleep on my screwed up schedule.
