Dapsone 10 mg for 6 weeks and at first no problem and got my numbers in and YAY for the first time in years I was normal and my blood work was good. About a week after that doctor's visit I got SEVERE join pain in my ankles. I have been off Dapsone for almost three weeks and the pain is WORSE and the swelling of my ankles is unreal. Each morning I wake up in pain and knowing that first step I take is going to cause immense pain is very depressing. I went to dr. and she said should get better in a few weeks but seems to only be getting worse. Just called and left message with doctor but going to her office after work at 12:30 and waiting to see her today no matter what. I need something for pain--I've had three knee surgies and the ache in my ankles are worse than any knee pains I have known. I was first prescribed Lexapro,and that cause horrible heart palpitations and night sweats. I was then switched to the Dapsone, a very lose dose, it has been a God-send! I feel so much better, and no heart issues, slight night sweats still, but dealable...dry mouth is very slight and water with lemon works for that. My Doc is taking me off (weening) effexor to go back on Zoloft. The five day 'no med' period is just awful. The well known brain shivers, headache, depression, zero concentration are debilitating. Will this stop once on the Zoloft - how soon after starting? I had actually thought that maybe I could start life anew with NO meds.
