I have taken ambien and now the generic for 13 years. I take about 1/4 of 10mg almost every night. Early on I noticed that I could not remember what I read the night before, now, I can remember. I still think that I suffer from periodic short term memory loss. I have gone weeks without taking it, using a sleep noise machine instead, but easier just to take a bite of a pill.
