It started out great. Was taking it for ptsd and anxiety. Felt better within first few days. Noticed it made my nightmares go away, at least until I stopped taking it. I had GERD so bad I had to have my throat stretched twice because my esophagus swelled and I was vomiting trapped food. I started with a Nexium prescription and then Prilosec which became OTC. Now I get a 42 day supply of Omeprazole from Costco for about $16. I have taken Omeprazole for about 5 years now with no apparent side effects. I had to stop a few times when it was only prescription and I had no insurance. Both times I was miserable without it. If you travel overseas, be sure to bring enough as it was recently by prescription only (UK and Germany). After 5 years of taking Omeprazole 20mg, I am a believer. Have patience as it takes maybe a few days to kick in. If you forget to take it, you will know pretty quick. I'm so happy this drug is cheaply and readily available to me, and although my doctor says he has patients who have taken it for 9 years or so without side effects, I hope there will be no long-term.
