Apparently I had low blood sodium, drinking lots of water (live in AZ) and not taking in a lot of salt (age 55, not elderly) after 6 weeks of taking it, my blood sodium level went to 113. ( 135-145 is normal) 125 danger, 118 your brain quits functioning. I had seizures for 6 hours, until I was found, taken to Mayo Clinic, with 3 hours they dedtected the problem. I did not know my own family, or my name for 6 days. They raised the sodium slowly. When my sodium was up to 140, I was as good as new! Have been ever since. Get my sodium tested every 3 months, it does tend to get low, so I take some salt pills occasionally. Be careful. This medication should have been black box by FDA many years. I took this medication at leasst 5 times in 7 months. It has totally ruined my right arm, wrist and hand. I've been told I have tendonitis in my wrist, thumb, and shoulder arthritis, STT arthritis and CTS. I have been fighting this since July '08. I have had PT, Ultra-sound, splints. I am now on my 2nd splint. Finally, I'm with a neuro-surgeon who specializes in hand disorder. All past docs have denied that CIPRO is the problem. Only one, a orth doc, said that if it was me he would never let anyone give me CIPRO AGAIN!!!!! The hand surgeon recognizes that CIPRO could be the problem. He has me wearing a customized splint, 24/7 for the next 6 weeks, completely resting my arm. What really ticks me off is trying to get an accurate diagonsis and treatment.
