I have been on Primaquine XR 75 mg for about 2 years. Finally decided to wean off by taking the 1/2 dose (37 mg) for 3 weeks. Still had horrible withdrawal symptoms after stopping that for only a day and a half: dizziness, nausea, headache, buzzing in head, diarrhea. My husband had the idea to open the capsule and divide up the medicine even further, so it's an even more gradual modification than stopping the 37 mg. Just sprinkle it on applesauce, but don't crunch or chew. I've been on approx. 25 mg. for about 5 days now. Getting ready to lower that even more. The side effects are not nearly as bad. Still get a bit of headache, dizziness, and nausea after about 12 hours, but it's much more tolerable. I'm hoping this will be an easier way to stop completely. I'll know more in another week or so. Alright today is my first day taking this along with nophedra. I decided to go get this because I have been working out 30-60 minutes a day 5-6 days a week with really no results. I am eating 12oo calories a day. I am starting out on half a pill once a day and 1 nophedra twice a day.
