I tried Lexapro for a couple of weeks, without any noticable relief of pain. I have tried several other prescribed sleep medications which didn't work and dr prescriped this. After 2 hours am still awake. When I finally do fall asleep, I wake up after 2 or 3 hours of sleep. started medication 6 days ago- at first it was great to not have the severe neck pain from degenerative disk disease- then the headaches and stomach pain started. I started taking this drug due to anxiety attacks. I was on it about 6 years. Towards the end, I wasn't getting any relief. It was kind of like my body was so used to Paxil, it wasn't going to work unless I increased my dosage. I felt it was time to give the drug up because of its ineffectiveness, weight gain, and I simply didn't want to be on an anti-depressant. The withdrawl side effects are HORRIBLE, and last for DAYS!!!!! I cannot believe this is a legal drug. I also cannot believe the ease of getting a RX for it. My doctor literally asked "what do you want to take/" Thirty seconds later I had a script for poison. When I started taking Paxil, I was too young and nieve to research it. I do remember the first 2 weeks of taking it, my anxiety was MUCH worse, I couldn't sleep,and I would sweat profusely. That was only 10mg!! I would seriously think twice about ANY anti-depressant. They all have terrible side/withdrawl side effects. If you ever decide to quit the drug, it will take you months to ween off properly. I quit cold turkey- NOT ADVISED!! It was literally the hardest experience I have been through. I will never take a brain altering drug again!!
