I began taking this med about 9 yrs ago. I take 3 75mg capsules a day. It has worked and saved my life. Now I believe I'm living in HELL! I have never in my life felt so hopeless and helpless. I now have thoughts of dying. I just don't want to deal with anything anymore. I have a great life and wonderful family, but because of this pill, I just can't be happy. I talked to my Dr. but he refuses to change my meds or prescribe something else. I have tried to wean off of it, but the withdrawls are worse than detoxing off of opiates. The medication works much better for me than Toprol did. I have been on this medication (5mg daily) for about 8 months after an episode of Atrial fibrillation. I have a family history of High Blood pressure, and a few years ago I started taking Toprol. I felt lethargic, and demotivated, but I kept working out as much as I could. I gained 15 pounds in 30+ days, and I weighed 170 at the time. I took myself off it, and managed my BP with diet and exercise till I had an episode of Afib after getting severely dehydrated. I have been on Fluoxetine ever since, and it seems to be keepin my heart rate in the "normal" range, and I dont have the side effects that Toprol gave me, though I agree with one reviewer that it impacts erectile funciton, but my wife has lost all interest in such activity anyway, so the actual impact is low. i took this medicine for about 2 months,started with the 10 then 20 & unto 40. first 2 weeks pretty good, after that my life was hell & still is & i stopped this 6 months ago. have bowel movement 3-4 times a day, i have had 3 MRI 2 0n brain,told i have had mini strokes!! waiting on results of third mri on my neck. have terrible headaches, intense neck pain, jumppy legs, pain in legs, need sleeping pills, need vicodin for intense pain in head & neck.i am back on zoloft & its working fine on my moods. i wish i had never heard of viibyrd it has made my life hell!! i never had any of these problems before this med. and why am i so miserable & in so much pain?? my doctor cant tell me why. this stuff should be taken off the market, very dangerous & i wonder what will happen in the future?? by WILFORD from Boscobel, WI
