I have been taken xanax since 1998 (3 mgs a day). I had a bad experience in my life and had a nervous breakdown. But now the problem is I would like to come off of them and the withdrawels are awful. Does anybody have any advice and trust me I have tried lowering dosage and that didn't work. Im so used to them I cannot speak correctly without them. Lots of hot flashes, trouble sleeping because of night sweats. I've gained over 10 pounds in the last year and a half on this drug. My appetite has increased. I usually react badly to medications, but did not react to this one. My problem is that neither the doctor, nor the pharmacist were thorough enough about explaining the use, interactions, and side affects. The Pharmacist said not to have any milk products 2 hours before or after. I read the interactions on webmd.com. VERY helpful!
