I have auto-immune hepatitis and was prescribed a 7 day course of Orlistat, 500mg per day. This was to prevent any infection resulting from a large gallstone blocking my bile duct which was successfully removed by an endoscopy. I have not completed the course.After the second tablet, I had severe nausea, diarrhoea and loss of appetite, which I have experienced throughout the course. This was followed by two days of severe muscle cramps. My heart beat, normally in low 70's has been a constant 107 bpm, my hands are shaking,my body is horribly itchy, I alternate between shivering and feeling that my skin is about to burn off, have no energy and am spending all my time asleep, making daily tasks almost impossible. My arm muscles and left calf muscle are incredibly sore. I contacted my Consultant on day 6 and said I wanted to stop the drug, thankfully she agreed. Within 24 hours, I feel less itchy and shivery and my heart rate has dropped to 97bpm. but I am still nauseous, have no appetite and feel fatigued. I have used several strong drugs in the last 5 years owing to my condition but Orlistat is the worst I have ever experienced. I will not take this drug again. by ALLAN from Sweetwater, TX
I just started taking Orlistat & so far I don't like how it's making me feel. I am taking two pills at 75 mil. My throat always feels like it's closing up on me. I can barely swallow.
