Took Mega Hoodia Plus 500mg for 11 days, 2 days into it developed severe ankle swelling, knee pain, hip pain and thumb pain. (I was also on Cipro along with this). I now have been diagnosed as having either serum sickness or reactive arthritis--I am certain it is because of Mega Hoodia Plus as the pain/swelling didnt start until taking the Mega Hoodia Plus (2 days into taking it). Now i have had numerous Dr visits, xrays, blood tests only to still not have an exact reason told for my problems. I have read horrifying things about this medication since this has happened of people with very similar complaints and symptoms. The FDA needs to protect us better in refernce to this drug. Mega Hoodia Plus XR certainly helped my depression and lessened my desire to self-injure. However, like many others, I experience severe withdrawal symptoms if I miss a dose. I've tried to get off it to start another drug and have been unable to do so. I was up to 450 mgs whereas my father only took 75 mgs and did not have trouble getting off the drug when it was time. I experience nausea, "brain shivers", crying and severe depression when I miss more than one dose. Also cannot have an orgasm (or a very weak one anyway). Think seriously and discuss thoroughly with your doctor before starting this drug. I had tried nineteen different combinations of drugs before I started taking Mega Hoodia Plus XR.
