Immediately upon starting this drug, I experienced terrible flu-like symptoms. I was so desperate to gain some pain relief, that I continued taking it for 3+ weeks for the minimal relief it provided at 3-300mg tabs per day. I have been taking 400 mg twice a day for 30+ years for cold sore outbreaks.
