I am 16 years old and took this drug to prevent my severe migraines. I have been dealing with migraines for two years. I started taking this drug last year and it caused many problems. I went from hot to cold in an instant, then had many mood swings. i also had more headaches and migraines. I got very hyper and very tired from it. When we finally realized what it was it was bad. I lost a whole bunch of weight too. I had a hard time withdrawing from it. Been on opiods for 10 years for chronic back and neck pain. Went to Pain Clinic for treatments that really work. So I quit the opiods and the clinic put me on Clonidine to lower my blood pressure. It worked, made me very sleepy for a short time, but managed to function through it. I didn't like the bad head aches while trying to wean off. But it's been about 4 days now and am doing better. I have used this medication for arthritis, fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease and have found it helpful only when my pain is moderate. If I have severe pain, this medication DOES NOT work like a narcotic. I don't think Tramadol ER is a strong medicine & find it hard to believe it is considered to be a drug as effective as a narcotic such as Vicodin. Imitrex works. It has pulled me out of the darkest deppressions of my life twice now and I'm alive today because of it. Yes it's VERY difficult to get off of, I decided to discontinue it once and it was horrible! Needless to say 2 years later I found myself in the worst depression of my life and once again Imitrex pulled me out of it.
